Walking in the Old Town district (Vieux Nice)
The Old Town of Nice is where most of the history is and this is a really charming part of the city. It is also quite lively and there are lots of small and traditional French shops and bakeries here, as well as some rather good looking restaurants. The Old Town is sandwiched between the Albert the 1st Gardens and the Cours Saleya. Stop at a cafe for a real French coffee, or at a gift shop to buy your postcards. This is a real friendly and safe part of the city, whatever the time of day - or night.

Colourful Carnival
The Nice carnival takes place every year in the middle of February and this is always a lot of fun. The city centre becomes a fairground with lots of fun rides and a big wheel. We went on the big wheel and the views of the city were great. The fair is close to the Espace Massena and always draws a crowd. There is plenty to eat if you're feeling hungry.
